Freaking mail women

So this is frustrating.... On days I don't get mail she will pass right by my house without checking if I have out going mail... Is this normal? Shouldn't they be checking the box? We dont have one with the littte red flag that lets you know theres mail to be taken. Its just a black box outside my house... Also our mail lady lives 3 houses down. So I dont want to call and get her in trouble but I also dont want to have to drive down to the post office every time I have something that needs to be mailed off like my rent check. Luckily dh drops it off on the way to work but still its annoying.
