WTF kids fighting

So I went to go pick dd up from school. On our way back home I see two little boys playing around or so I thought. Next thing I know I see one kid on top of the other smashing his face into the grass and hitting him. Kids where maybe 8. You can tell he was trying to get away while 4 other kids just laughed and pointed. Well me being a mama bear and knowing that is someone's baby getting beat up on I stop right in the middle of the street and start honking my horn and yealing for him to get off him. Told him dont make me get out this car and pull you off. He then gets off him saying they where playing.... Yeah freaking right little man was crying. The kids all ran off after that and I offerd to walk him back to the school so he could call him mom. Wasn't going to have him get in my car. But didnt want those kids trying to get him after I left. He said thank you and his home was only 3 houses down... I was so upset because cars passed by like it was nothing. Like who could drive by that and do nothing? I hope I didn't make things worse for him but I couldn't just drive by and do nothing. What if that had been my baby? I hope he tells his mom so she can handle it further. Freaking hate bullys.
