lost my stepmom

So I found out on fb my step mom had passed. Now a little back story. My step Mom was married to my dad at 16. They had a daughter and divorced by the time she was 19. My dad then married my Mom and stayed with her for 14 years. We moved back to sacramento and he started seeing his first daughter again. Well Kim and my dad feel back in love and broke up two families in the process. She was nice at first but over time she Would call me names and put me down. She also started to drink more because my father is a alcoholic. I got kicked out at 13. Never got along till I became pregnant with my oldest over 8 years ago.. Over the years I saw her alcoholism and drug problem progress. She left my dad after 11 years. She still kept contact with me. Little hi here and there and comments on my pictures of how beautiful my girl are... I still talk to my half sister and knew she was still using. She lost her relationship with her children and grandchildren. But last year she got married to a country singer and seemed to be doing better.... I guess we where wrong. I knew she had other health issues and I'm still not sure how she passed. She was only 49. As much as I didn't care for the women in my teen years. As I got older I knew my father played a big role in her down ward spiral. She use to drink normally. But when your married to a alcoholic it can go one of two ways. You either keep sober because your spouse is always inebriated or join in. My mom never joined in. I only recall her being drunk once all through my childhood. But Kim joined in. I saw the women go from having one mixed drink a night to finishing fifths to herself.... Like I said I'm not sure how she passed but I'm almost sure it was substance abuse or the health issues she got from substance abuse. She got the gastric bypass 9 years ago. It didn't go well because she drank heavily throughout it. She ended up having to use a ostomy bag for the rest of her life because she couldn't stop drinking and smoking for a year. As much as I didn't care for the women growing up. But once I got older I could see it wasn't her. It was my father and substance abuse. It will dostroy a person. I'm glad we got along once I was a adult. I hold no hard feelings or resentment for the things she said. So when I saw the news last night I cried. I cried for my sister and step siblings. I cried because this women has been in my life for as long as I can remember. Though it wasn't consistent till they got remarried I still knew her from seeing my sister a few times over the years.... She wrote me March 10th saying she wanted to see me and that I was always welcome. I didn't Wright her back. It was a late night message and the spelling was all messed up. So I assumed she was drunk. I didn't Wright back. I wish I did. I wish I reached out to her. I should have tried or at least said hi. Now I can't and never will be able too.... I don't want to post on fb because she was not my mom and it's her kids time to morn her. But I just needed to post this for myself and to let others know not to hold resentments. Give them a chance or at least give them one min of your time. Who knows if that one min will help them or may be your last time you speak to them.
