I try not to judge but.....

So dd2 had her 18 month check up yesterday. While waiting for the office to open back up after lunch another car pulls up. We figure it's just someone using the parking lot to go next door because the women was sitting in the car smoking. Well the office opens and they get out with a little boy dd2 age. Well we both sit down to fill out paper work. They start joking and reading the questions out loud. She gets to the one about watching your child while they take a bath. They both laugh and talk about how they never watch him and he's left alone every time. My heart just broke. First little man has to sit in a smoked filled car and then i hear them say that! No just no. Both can kill your child. Only takes one sec for him to go under and He would die! There's so sugar coating that. Also I'm a smoker. I get wanting one while out with the kids. But never would I smoke around or in the car with my children. I wait till we get our butts home (to smoke outside) or if it's a long trip I pass off dd to dh and smoke far away from everyone. Along with some gum and hand sanitizer after. I know it's a horrible habit. Believe me I know. That's why I have cut down to half pack a day and hopefully will kick this nasty habit.... But back to my post. I don't know if I did the right thing but I did say something to the doctor. I just said how a couple was saying how they never watch him in the bath and the smoking in the car. The walls are thin and I heard them tell the doc they never smoke. So hopefully if anything the doctor gives them some paper work on the dangers there putting their son in or possibly more. I'm not sure what a doctor could do by just hearsay. I mean the bath stuff is straight up neglect and the smoking in the car is against the law. So do you think I over stepped? Should I have kept my mouth closed? I just felt so bad for little man. He had a cold on top of it and she was freaking smoking in the car with him! I mean come on!! You where parked!! Could have gotten out and smoked outside! I can honestly say I hate smokers who subject their children to their nasty habits. If I could go back I would have never picked up this habit . But I'm also not a a$$ when I smoke. I stay away from parks, stores and most definitely children. Ill Go all day without one if needed. Grrr sorry but I get so tired of seeing people smoke in cars with kids. Makes me want to carry a water bottle so I can throw it at their face.... Unopened. ? Also the bath stuff just blew me away. I could never leave my youngest alone in the bath! Never!
