Luca James was born 2/27 at 4:24am by unplanned c-section 4 days past his edd. He was 7lbs 14oz.The day started like all others but when I walked to the bathroom that morning I felt leaking which I assumed was urine. I had some pink spotting and thought it was a good sign of something happening so we decided to go walk around the mall. I kept realizing that every time I went from sitting to standing I had a gush of liquid but I still thought I was only peeing myself. I ended up going through 2 pads pretty quickly so by 2pm I was having doubts and called my dr. He said to head to the hospital because it seems to be my waters. We got there by 5pm and sure enough it was. I had my first strong contraction upon entering the hospital and the more water I lost, the more contractions progressed. I was dilated to only 1.5cm and 90% effaced. I ended up getting to 5cm dilated but got stuck at that for 5hrs. They started pitocin but still nothing changed. By then it was 3am and we were all exhausted. The doctor then got worried when his heart rate started dropping during contractions so I was told pitocin can't be increased and a c-section was the best option. After the c section we found out that at some point during labor he had become sunny side up and it was putting stress on him. Recovery is horrible but Luca latched amazing within the first hour of birth and the lactation consultants are all impressed at his latch.
