Soooo SORRY, this is kind of gross, but I'm desperate. As if I didn't struggle enough already with my supply, now this ? So earlier when I nursed Enzo I noticed a little blood on his mouth and saw that I had a blood "clot" on one of my nipples (the side that has been hurting a little but not terrible). I stopped feeding him and wiped off the blood and I can only see a tiny little crack, barely noticeable. I decided to pump on that side for the next feeding just to make sure it wouldn't bleed anymore... and this is what happened. Again there was a slimy blood clot kind of thing. I have no idea what to do now ? Do i just keep pumping and dumping on that side until there is no more blood? I plan on calling a LC tomorrow, but if any of you have any advice, I would love to hear it. ? TIA

Oh my goodness! Bless your heart. I have no advice but just wanted to say sorry u are going through this. I have problems with my supply all of the time and I know this has got to be worrying u. Good luck hun.

Thanks mama's ? I'm definitely freaked out but I'm hoping it will go back to normal soon. As I was dumping the blood/milk I noticed a HUGE mucus-y chunk in the bottle. Pretty gross and shocking that it could come through the tiny holes. I wonder if that was from a clogged duct, but I had no pain like you would have from one. Ugh ?

Yes it's a clogged duct. No need to pump and dump, just mix it with your normal milk. It's perfectly fine for him to drink, the color looks way worse than it really is. Don't waste that goodness! Warm compress or towel before pumping or nursing. Hot shower and massage. That should help.

This happened to me because of mastitis with my first... it will get better but keep an eye on it because mine progressed really fast and I got really sick. If I had paid closer attention to my symptoms it wouldn't have gotten so bad... so the second you start feeling shivery or get a headache that won't go away or especially if you have a fever, call immediately!! Even after hours if you have to, to get antibiotics from a 24 hour pharmacy. Good luck mama

Thanks for all the advice mama's! ❤️ (Sorry you had to deal with mastitis Baird, it sounds super painful ?). When I pumped on that side early this morning there was no blood, what a relief. Does that mean the clog has been cleared? I had a clogged duct shortly after my LO was born, but I had all the typical symptoms, breast pain, heat and swelling (no blood though as far as I know). This time I only had a headache for like two days (blamed it on the humid weather) and then the blood yesterday, no real pain in my breast. Right now I can feel a little stinging from time to time, but nothing too awful. Am I ok to nurse him again on that side or should I keep pumping instead just to be sure? Thanks for all the help! ?

@Alexa, thanks so much! So far I didn't see anymore blood (I only pumped on that side). I will nurse him when he wakes up and hopefully that was it. ??
