Frustrated with doctors
So, I called my OB right after I got my positive test (beginning of August). The nurse told me to call back at the end of August and then they would schedule me for my appointment and would get me in right away. She said they would see me between 8-10 weeks. So I waited patiently and called them back today. Different nurse tells me I should've had my intake appointment between 8/20-9/1, so between 6-8 weeks. She transferred me to the front desk to schedule the appointment. Well and then they told me "sorry but we are all booked until 9/12". I told her that I had asked to schedule sooner and was told to wait and that I would get right in. She didn't really have an answer and just said sorry that's all we have. And that would just be the intake appointment with the nurse, go over paperwork and get blood drawn if need be. I wouldn't see the doctor until 10/3 (that would be my first actual appointment). I think that's too long of a wait and I'm pretty pissed, they screwed up and now I'm the one who has to pay the price. I'm debating on going to a different doctor even though I really like my current one, but I can't deal with the super long waiting list etc.

With my third I wasn't able to get into the doctor till13 weeks and they really didn't say much about it. The good this is you should get an ultrasound right away. I've also had gestational diabetes and bin borderline with all mine all they did is make me do an 1 hour test at 15 weeks and then another 1 hour at the normal times.

I would pitch a fit. Lol. But my hormones are super wacked out. Still though. I would have went off. I totally would change doctors. If you can't trust the staff/Doctor do you really want them delivering you baby?

Thank you! I agree Jacqui.Faye. I'm pretty pissed. Mostly because when I called in early August I asked them to schedule my appointment then (for September) but they told me that wasn't necessary and to just call back at the end of August and they would fit me right in. So I was given all kinds of wrong information, which is pretty ridiculous given the fact that it's a huge medical center/hospital. I will call a different doctor today (friend of mine recommended), so hoping things will work out.

My first appointment isn't until October 4 so I wouldn't say that's too far but I'm only like 5+3 so that may be the difference

When I called to make a appt. I was told they don't want to see me until 12weeks......witch is crazy with my other 2 children I was 8 to 9 weeks I live somewhere else now but I see mommas that have already had an appointment and ultrasound I'm pretty iffy about this also

That sounds about right mbrewer. By that time you'll be about 10 weeks right?
aknightswife, yeah that sounds just like my situation. I live somewhere else too now and with my other two pregnancies I was seen way sooner.
I called a different doctor office today (in town, saves me a 40 min drive too) and they scheduled me for 9/14 with the nurse and 9/16 with the midwife and an ultrasound. I can live with that! I hope you can find a different doctor too or convince them to see you sooner.

I will be 10 weeks when i have my first appt that is all they had available. They say usually your first appt is between 8-10 weeks unless you have complications. But we know our bodies best i knew i had low iron because i had it with my son and the nurse told me i would be fine to wait. I ended up going to er because my iron was too low and i was almost fainting every time i stood up. If you are concerned about anything then schedule first appt somewhere else and if you really like your current dr just make sure to schedule your next appt right away and don't let them tell you otherwise.
