Dilated and effaced

Just leaving the doctors he says I'm already 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced which is strange for me to be effaced this early. I'm 34 weeks and four days. He also ordered an ultrasound because he says my fundal height is only measuring 30. He says the babies head is stationed at -2 I don't remember what that means. Does anyone else?
