Ungrateful?

My MIL is telling DH not to buy a bassinet, swing, toys, etc because we can just take the hand me downs from my SIL's baby (they will be a year apart once born). I feel like choosing these items specifically for the baby is a right of passage as a parent. This is our first (rainbow) baby that was 3 years in the making. I want to pick out everything myself, does this make me ungrateful?
