We put the kid to bed before our bedtime. My husband does the whole bedtime routine and stays with him till he's asleep. Then he leaves and if we're not too exhausted, we have a little bit if time before we go to bed too.
I can't imagine how you manage it all. Sounds like you're doing great but I can understand the need for at least a small piece of sanity. Before I had my second I always laid with my daughter to help her get to sleep. For the first month after having my son I continued to do that. I've slowly worked from cuddling closely to hand holding to sitting beside her to sitting across the room and now am working on leaving for short periods at a time and coming back to check on her until she's asleep. It was a slow process though and it sounds like you need some relief right now and that might not be a feasible plan with twins. I always keep the lights off after 8-9 pm and speak in whispers and my 2 month old naturally considers that his bedtime now. Have you tried that? Do you babywear? You can tandem wear with twins in a double front carry or even one on front and one on back with a woven wrap while you work on changing your sons schedule and that will give you hands free to get an extra pumping session in and maybe by the time you change your older ones schedule the twins will be old enough for more of a schedule? I wish I could be more helpful.
This is so hard.. But I did what pp post did with putting our son to sleep. I used to lay down with him but now I can sit on the side of the bed. Hopefully I'll be able to leave the room soon.. But it has been a long process.
Getting some alone time before bed is sooo nice. I know you'll still have your twins to take care of but 2 year olds are a different kind of demanding and you really need a break!!
My only suggestion would be to be really consistent. Keep the same wake up, nap and bed times. When I started getting really consistent about that, nap and bed times got much easier.
He got up at 9 this morning so I wanted to do 9 for his bedtime and 1 for nap. He Wouldn't Take a nap for me and then at 630 this evening he decided to sit on my lap and fall asleep. It's 1040 now and he's still sleeping. Not sure how tonight will go. He always has to fall asleep with me so I will take ur advice and try and get further away from him and see how that goes. It can only be me doing bedtime most nights because my husband gets off at 9 alot.
Yeah that's what I have to do too because OH works nights too.
How did the night go? Did he sleep through the night? We've had days where Julian doesn't nap and he goes to bed early.. It's actually nice. Lol and sometimes it works for a "reset" too. We moved his bedtime earlier this way and been much happier since.
