Unless I know I will have access to privacy and an electrical outlet, I use a hand pump when out and about. I was given one in the hospital that coordinated with the parts for the hospital grade Medela symphony I used while there and while lo was in the nicu.

My medala electric pump has a battery pack adaptor. If you are renting one from the hospital maybe see if it comes with that accessory?

My pump in style has a car adaptor and a battery pack however if your only planning on using the hospital grade a hand pump will work. For me I used a hospital grade for the first 2 months then I used a hand pump exclusively for 3 months next u bought my pump in style and used that at home and the hand pump when I was out. I only had one baby but I pumped enough for 2 and donated the extra to a friend. I was able to pump 50-60 oz a day at my max. Just pump around the clock in the beginning and you will establish a great supply. 2-3 hours in the day and 3-4 hours at night. Eat a lot of food and drink a ton of water!

I get the hospital one for as long as im going to pump my insurance is going to pay for it. I have a medela pump in style or something so i could probably get a car adapter but i want something that will be small and fit into my diaper bag

Medela has a battery option, not as strong as plugging it in, but it does the trick.. I've also read alot of good things about manual pumps while being away, also more compact. Planning on getting a manual one for this babe, and save the electric one for home

If you have Facebook there is a group called exclusively pumping and they have a spin off group for mom's who are pumping for multiples they will have a ton of advice for you! It's a private group so none of your friends will see what you post :)
