Wow, try mentioning it again. They should take it serious, plus some medications can make it worse

My OB told me that taking anti depressants during pregnancy levels out all of your emotions. You don't feel the lows, but you also don't feel the highs. That can make it difficult to bond with your baby. He recommended that unless you're so depressed you can't get out of bed or do anything, you should try your best to live life as normally as possible. I know being ignored by your OB about it is concerning and so is depression itself, but being a person who suffered from severe depression and anxiety before I was pregnant, and now with my hormones mixed in and it makes it worse, I still wouldn't want to risk not feeling that strong connection with my baby when she comes. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. Sometimes I don't want to get out of bed and I don't like to do anything I used to do. Nothing is fun anymore. I hope I can get over this by the time baby comes because I don't want it to effect him/her

You should see a primary doctor if your depressed. If your insurance doesn't require referrals then you may be able to go directly to a therapist to try counseling before taking a medication. My obgyn wouldn't help me with my anxiety but my primary doctor did. I was told that there aren't any category b anti depressants. Talk to family and friends and try and find things that make you happy. Take up a hobby or two and keep yourself distracted. Make a list of everything you like in your life and all the things that make you happy. Focus on the good and take time for yourself and things you enjoy. Try new things.

Sometimes depression and anxiety are beyond our control despite out best efforts. You cannot make a chemical imbalance go away by simply thinking positively and hoping for the best. If you truly believe that you need help go see a different doctor, or appeal to your OB that this is serious. I had to go on an antidepressant during my my first trimester and I'm thankful I did. I'm once again happy and am able to function normally. I'm not encouraging you to take medication, but I want you to know there ARE safe options out there. Do what is best for YOU and your baby. Good luck Hun.
