#5 worries
Pretty sure hubby and I just decided to ttc #5 and prob last one. I have 3 boys (13,7,5) and 1girl (3). I talked to my OB and she said I was at a slightly higher risk of Pp bleeding :( this has me a little nervous now. Any advice or experience? Thanks :)

Why? Coz u will hv had more ? I'm on number 5 n I'm from uk n I have only seen my midwife once n I'm almost 17 weeks! They say nothing to me which is why I feel so anxious. Wht precaution will they take for u? Hv u bled lots after the others? X

I have never had any issues w my last 4 deliveries but she said the risk goes up slightly because the uterus is tired and thinner. She also said they would have blood ready in case I needed it as well as certain meds ready in the delivery room. I really want a 5th but im nervous now.

The doctors said this to me too with my 5th. It's like they are trying to scare us into not having any more. ? Im not saying it can't happen, but the doctors really do treat us moms of many like some kind of freak show. That's why I'm going with a midwife for my 6th.

If you don't mind me asking how was your 5th delivery comparing to the other 4? I have had 4 uncomplicated vaginal deliveries I guess im just gonna hope for a 5th

I'm expecting number 7. I've had inductions with the last four, and at least with #5 & 6, I recall them giving a flush of pitocin after delivery (what my midwife calls "actively managing the third stage of labor"). This was totally precautionary and my midwives' way of staying on top of the risk of hemorrhaging by helping my uterus contract back down. I have never experienced any excessive hemorrhaging and would say that bleeding wth the last three was less than with my first three. So there are ways your provider can address the risk of hemorrhage. You may also be relieved to research for yourself dietary vitamin supplements (like Vitamin E, which can strengthen vessels), or red raspberry leaf tea, to equip your body to handle the demands of labor and delivery. I totally understand the fear...I've had so much anxiety with pregnancy. But researching and feeding my body well and taking supplements helps me feel less helpless about it all. Because worrying doesn't fix anything.
