Square footage?
I have 4 kids 3 boys(11,5,3) and 1 girl (1yr) I have 1728 sq ft between my first 2 levels and a newly finished basement that is almost 500 sq ft so a total of about 2200 finished sq ft it's a newer home in a great neighborhood. I have 3 bathrooms and right now 3 boys in one room ( it's a big room -20 ft long) and the girl in her own room I eventually wud like to put my oldest boy in the finished basement which would be a great bedroom space for him since he's 6 yrs older than my second but I'm kinda feeling like I want one more child do you guys think I have enuff space to add another child what are some of you ladies working with for space/bedrooms and how many children do u have or plan on having? Thanks:)
I have a total of 2,200 square footage if you include finished basement with 2 full bathrooms. 3bedrooms upstairs and working on putting walls up in basement for 2 bedrooms and 1 storage room with enough living room area and play area for the kids hopefully.
2 girls (11,5) 1 boy (1 yr. old) and will be ttc for number 4 next year.
I have three boys 14, 12, 9, one girl 5 and expecting baby girl #5 any day now. We went from a 1500 sq ft 4 bdr 2 bath and felt crowded was just so tight.
But thank god we finally built our home. 5 bdr 3 baths around 3900 sq ft...not including unfinished basement.
Its honestly so relaxing no kids fighting over the others breathing, touching, etc.:)
I think you have enough room. We have 2300 sf, 5 bedrooms and expecting #4 next week. Only one bedroom is downstairs so that is our office. The boys (2 and 4) share the larger room and the girls (7 and the new baby) will each get a room. We figure if the boys want to be apart when they are teenagers we could move one downstairs.
We are very similar in situation to you. We have 3 boys and now a girl due in December. Our house in older but it's a ranch with a fully finished basement and in all about 3,800 sq ft. Our house was remodeled in the late 90's to change the carport into a large bonus room (off of the living room) and then a 2 car garage off of that bonus room. At this pint the basement is still like a mother in law suite with a large room and closet, a small kitchen and then a full bathroom and then a laundry/office outside of that. We are in the process of moving our 3 boys in together with 2 sets or bunk beds (they are 7,5 & 2 -8 & 3 when baby arrives) since DH decided baby girl will have her own room. We may at some time in the next few years remodel the basement again to give our oldest son a room down there and/or make our master bedroom out of the bonus room. Right now the bonus room is cram packed full of toys and a disaster because we made it a play room and only have dressers and beds in their rooms.
O grew up in a small house so I tend to like smaller homes. Growing up we had a family of 4 in about 800 sqft. If you counted the almost finished attack my sister and I shared.
When it was just my daughters and I we lived in a small house just under 500 sqft. Maybe why our new house felt so big a year ago that our family had to get bigger lol.
Currently living in a 1300 sqft with about 300 extra almost finished in the basement. 1 1/2 bath. 3 true bedrooms. My girls (10&13) have their own rooms upstairs and we just built a room for ss (12) in the basement off the family room. Baby girl due monday will be in my closet lol. Actually converted part of the inclosed front porch into a walk in closet for the vary small master last year...this year it is my nursery. not sure where we will put baby girl in a year or two but we will figure it out. I hate to take away my girls having their own room they never have before.
I love my older home with lots of charm and not to many walls between us. I'm not even bothering to buy a baby monitor.
We have 3000 sq ft, 1500 currently unfinished. 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 girls (4&3) and one boy (2) and one baby on the way. The girls share a room. when the downstairs is finished there will be another bathroom and 3 more bedrooms. We hope to get the bathroom and a bedroom done downstairs before baby gets here but we will cope either way. We plan on this baby being our last but will also have a teen living with us and a spare bedroom for guests as our family lives far away.
My mom had seven kids and we lived in a small trailer with one bedroom.... No electricity and no plumbing or anything. For two years we lived like that and she made it work. I'm sure you are a lot better off than we were! I say go for it. I think you can make it work if its what you truly want. Good luck
