I am having my shower July 8th. We went ahead and sent invitations out about a week ago.
1) We've only received 14 rsvps, we sent out about 45 invites. Do you contact people if you need to get a better head count?
2) A few people have already bought gifts from our registry and sent them to our house. We have received them. I was going to do thank you cards after the shower but should I send them earlier to these people?

Contact them to get a better head count and over invite if you have to because no matter how many times you remind someone or they promise they will be there some just wont come. Wait till after to give out the thank you cards so you can do it all in one shot

1) a lot of people don’t rsvp anymore, it’s irritating. I usually just plan to have enough food for everyone invited to be sure. Left overs always get eaten, so it’s not a waste.
2) thank you cards are great, I usually do mine as I receive gifts, less writing if you are able to get some out of the way now. 😉

I would plan for everyone invited to come even if they don’t RSVP. So many people wait until the last minute to decide if they’re going. You will probably get gifts regardless.
Make or provide things that reheat or keep well, so food doesn’t go to waste.

It’s totally fine to text or message. Just a quick- my -host- needs a quick headcount. I just wanted to see if you are planning to attend. As for the gifts- it’s polite to contact them and thank them- let them know the gifts arrived, but it’s okay to send the thank you card after the shower.
