So my one year old (15 months) he’s a picky eater and sometimes doesn’t eat a lot most days. How often and how much is recommended for them to eat? I just don’t wanna feel like I’m starving my child, even though he eats. Some days he eats A LOT, & others he only eats a little.

Just make.sure he is drinking plenty of whole milk. They get lots of good fat and protein from that.

@morganpatterson195, that’s what I’m gonna try, I’m gonna keep offering food and new things in hope he will try the new things. I feel like he needs more fruits and veggies in his diet but he refuses most of them.

@kay201 Feel free to pm me if you need any suggestions on healthy, high calorie foods if he does have any issues at his appointment. I've been through the ringer with one of my kids and I'm happy to share some tricks I've learned 😉

My daughter was and still is the pickiest eater. The doctor told me that they will eat when they are hungry and to feed them what they will eat. I did do the pediasure on days she wouldn't eat anything at all but she started wanting that all the time instead of food so I quit it and she would eat when she was hungry. She turns 3 this week and she has really just started trying new things. Just stick with offering food and don't give up.

@masseymomma16, my son is the same! He eats nuggets, fries, Doritos, Mac and cheese and turkey lunchables. He loves green beans cooked down with bacon and corn on the Cobb. But that’s basically it. He doesn’t eat fresh fruits, idk why. And he snacks on animal crackers and gold fish during the day too. It’s stressful but I also try my best

@wafflespancakes, yeah his growth has been fine so far from what the doctor tells us, but we see the doctor Tuesday and I guess I’ll talk with her then about it

Same here with 18m old!! Her diet is terrible. We just do the best we can. We still introduce new foods and stuff she doesn't like in hopes she will start eating it. She doesn't eat vegetables at all. She mostly eats chicken fries, Mac n cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. We let her snack on cheerios and goldfish all day pretty much. She will eat fruit cups but not fresh fruit. So picky. Doctor isn't concerned even though she's tiny.

@hazelmaplewood, yeah I make sure my son has lots of milk, water and juice through out the day. And when he started cutting his molars is when his appetite changed also!! That’s crazy. I just feel bad is all, I mean I know if he’s hungry then he will eat but still.

Pediasure can be counterproductive because some kids would rather have their sugary drink than eat whole foods. I would avoid it if at all possible. If he's staying on his growth curve, I wouldn't worry at all. A fluctuating appetite can be totally normal.

Get pediasure. That's what I did with my son. It kept him up with his growth chart
