I know this sounds super petty BUT, I saw a poll today on another app I have and the girl posting is wanting to use the same first name that I picked out and was looking for advice on a middle name ( I haven't said anything or posted) but it was kind of discouraging... I don't know her and it is doubtful I ever will, but it is the first time I've had any doubt about her name... is that silly?

It's not making me reconsider, just momentarily discouraged...it was the first time that I had heard someone else suggest using the name and it sort of stole a bit of the unique luster of it... I knew it was petty, but I felt blah about it momentarily in any case, anyway, it's already her name, so I will definitely still use it =)
A random mom on another app naming her daughter the same as you is making you reconsider your baby's name? Yes that's silly.
It's still a name special to you, and you don't even know her so don't let it bother you.
Think of it this way, you had to learn the name from somewhere so it is bound to be someone else's name in all the world. And I'm sure it's beautiful, so if you love it keep it.
Otherwise you'll have to make up names each time you have a child lol!
@matronmagyk, same thing happened to me. There was not a single boy name I could decide on... I was set on my baby girls name & then I found out I was indeed having a girl so I’m glad I didn’t bother thinking about boy names!
@matronmagyk, right lol Thats how I feel with our Boy name! If its not a person thats in your life a lot then hopefully that helps and won't make you 2nd guess! Just know your not alone in being discouraged!
I knew this baby girls name before I even knew she was a female for sure! I wasn't able to pick one single boy name this time, and so it just stuck...I don't know anyone that has this name and that made me love it even more, now I'm like can I just have the monopoly on the name please? That would be great.. ;)
Our unborn son has a family name its old and uncommon we've had it picked out for 14 years! I would be angry if I saw someone use 🤷🏽♀️
Its normal! My husband and I really try to give our kids special names and it definitely can be discouraging! With our 2nd we had announced out daughters name as "Lillyan" and the next day 2 other family members announced Lillyan too + a really close friend picked that name so we opted out.
I'm sure she'll love it!
