I actually love Noah but it's so common these days. Being an "Ashley", I want to my kids to have unique (not weird), powerful names that not many people have.
I love Noah, as well, but it has gotten super popular.
Don't feel bad about him not being named yet...I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow, and we still haven't decided. My husband is the hardest person to decide names with lol
What's funny is that I am kind of obsessed with Johnny Cash and his real first name was JR (pronounced as the letters J-R), but he changed it to John when he joined the Air Force.
Anywho, one of my daughters (Everly June) is named after June Carter Cash, so how cute would it be to have a JR too?!? ?? My husband is not sold.
Ahhh, that'd be perfect! And I love love LOVE the name Everly! It was on my list of girl names before we found out we are having a boy. My husband shot it down, though.
My MIL suffered a miscarriage with her first pregnancy, and then was told her son had Down syndrome. My DF was named Matthew at birth because it means gift of God, and he was as healthy as could be. Reminded me of your story, so thought I'd share.
Matthew is pretty common though. I really like Josiah River. Micah and Isaiah are two favorites of mine.
Whatever you name him is going to be perfect. I'm so glad everything is going well. ?
Sit youR OH down and tell him he must pick 3-4 names by such and such date. Until that date you will NOT provide him anymore names. Then on that date sit him down again and have him hand you his list. Read it and find out if there is a name you like. If there is yay, if not see if one of his name choices sounds like a great middle name to one of your first names.
Another way is both of you write down long individual lists of names you each love. Then trade. Cross off any name you can't live with. Hopefully from those lists you get something.
DH and I do the second one. There is still a debate but it's a lot less stressful than every suggestion being shot down

I like Josiah. It means God has healed, and this baby has surely been very healing for our family.
I also like River - the river has been my go to quiet place when I just needed to get away.
And I like Augusten, which means great or venerable.

It means "rest" and "comfort" in Hebrew, two things you and your lovely family deserve!

My only complaint is my cousin who I used to be pretty closed to has a son named Josiah.

You could go with Jonathan, if that's an option you like.
It means "God has given". ?
So it would still go with your Johnny Cash feel, with having J-R as the initials.

I love the name Achilles. It means warrior. It's a semi common Greek name and is usually called Aki by nickname.
