This house hunting process has been one disappointment after the other. However, the entire time my parents have told us that if we needed a place to stay while in transition, we could always stay with them. Both houses we've put contracts on fell through and now we have to be out of our home in 10 days.

We kept one of my dhs coworkers dogs for like three months, we were never told a time frame. He was a well behaved dog and they gave us food and such for him so we didn't mind.

We could afford to board him but weeks or months in a board sounds depressing. I was looking into it and the ones around here are either SO expensive or they only let the dog out for a few minutes a day.
My kids would miss him so much and I would hate him to think we abandoned him.

My 3 year old DD loves our animals like siblings. We had to put one of our dogs down in December and she sleeps with her picture every night. ?

We've been looking. The shortest term we can find is three months and it's $1800 a month for a 2 bedroom and a $400 non-refundable pet deposit. Thats only $400 less than our mortgage payment on our 3200 sq ft house!
We'll do it if we have to but it just sucks. The whole reason for this move was to save money so I could be a SAHM. It just seems like nothing is working in our favor at the moment.

Are there pet motels near you? We had one near where we were when I lived in Galveston. Every dog had a literal room with a proper bed. Toys. And get this. TV! I couldn't understand that bit lol. But it was a nice set up and the owners did it to generate money as their property doubled as an exotic bird rescue.
Might be worth looking into.

If you have any close friends, don't feel guilty for just asking for them to pet sit. We pet sit all the time. It's an easy way for a friend to help out if they already have a dog of their own that they are caring for anyway. We always ppl when people ask. No biggie...as long as your dog behaves and doesn't piss everywhere.
