Anyone have
A good venison stew recipe? DHs birthday is this coming weekend and he wants venison stew. This will be my first time making it.
Brown the deer meat in a bit of oil first then toss it in the crock pot.
Add:
2 30oz cans of tomato sauce
1 can of corn
Chopped red potatoes
1tbsp Chili powder, garlic powder, &paprika
1.5tsp onion powder
You can change those around for taste
Cook on high until meat falls apart and potatoes are tender
I also add a package of frozen green beans in the last 20min but I like them to be a bit crunchy rather than mushy.
Serve with buttered French baguette
I love venison and elk stew.
For me I brown the meat in a bit of oil and add it to the crock pot. Then I make a roux by missing 1/4 cup butter with a 1/4 cup of flour. In the same pan I just used. Cook it for about 30-45 seconds. Then add in beef broth. Scraping the brown bits off the bottom. Then pour into the crock pot. I add diced potatoes, baby carrots, 1/2 to a whole onion diced, and frozen corn, as well as canned diced tomatoes.
For spices I add
To taste:
garlic salt (you can also do garlic powder and regular salt)
pepper,
2 T
celery flake,
parsley,
1 T
ground sage
Thyme
Add 2 bay leaves
Cook on low for a good 4-6 hours and serve with homemade rolls
Thank you ladies! Hopefully I don't mess this up! ?
