Sleep study??

I've had really bad sleeping problems for about 10 years. I was suppose to go to a sleep clinic but was kicked off my fathers insurance at 18. I'm finally going now as its progressively worsened. I go for a consultation March 25. Has anyone actually had a sleep study done before? What should I expect and what do they do to you?

I have not but my ds had one when he was 2. They had cords and wires hooked up all over his body... head to toe. He had to sleep in a dark room with no sound/music on. But it was easy and not stressful.

I did a sleep study. I feel like it was a pretty big waste of time. They had this freaking oxygen meter in your nose to monitor how much you're breathing; I couldn't sleep at all with everything they had me hooked up to. I was annoyed.

Awesome, so I'm going to be hooked up to machines that make it even harder for me to sleep. I toss and turn a lot so I'm guessing that won't be happening lol

It's a little weird because you have one million electrodes all over your head and face and then they tell you To go to sleep!! Lol like ooook.

My room was super comfy though, it was like a luxurious hotel. That part was awesome.

Hopefully it won't be too bad. I wake up feeling like I haven't slept and like I've been ran over. This has been going on for 10 years and I'm now just getting the chance to do something about it

I have had two. They have wires hooked to your head and face, one one each leg and then the oxygen readers in your nose(2 different ones). Then they have someone watching through monitors. I found it to be super annoying but was able to sleep for a couple of hours which was enough for them. I found the day they showed the results to be super interesting and cool so it was worth the one night of discomfort. I hope you're able to get some answers and rest soon :)

My husband has done them twice. It was super easy, they sent him home with a suitcase, a monitor for his wrist. Then a bunch of little electrodes that connected to it that we attached to different palaces on him. He now has a cpap machine he uses. Not every night though.
