Not sleeping in her bed! YAYA?!?

Not sleeping in her bed! YAYA?!?

DD is 4 and has her own bedroom with her own big girl bed. She has been sleeping in her own bed for about a year until about 2 weeks ago when she decided in the middle of the night she will crawl into my bed. If me or DF put her back into her bed 20 mins later she comes back into our bed. I've asked her why she won't sleep in her bed and she said she is scared of the dark. She has a night light and I even brought DSs projector in her room so it lights up the room even more. I'm at a loss on what to do. DS will be here at any time and I need her in her own bed. Someone help!!!!!!!

My 4 year old does this too sometimes. But since my two year old still crawls into our bed every time I understand. But I always bring her back and snuggle her back to sleep in her bed.

My step son did the same thing around that age. I think it's a phase. I hope yaya can give you some tips!

I think it's a phase too. Just keep walking her back to her own bed and ride it out.

I hope so. I feel helpless. I'm already tired as it is being 39 weeks pregnant. Me and DF take turns bringing her back to bed because he needs as much sleep as possible.

You just have to keep putting her back in her bed. It may take a few nights or a week or two but you have to be persistent. Maybe sit with her until she falls asleep. I know it can be a pain and tiring but if you don't follow through and allow her to stay she's going to think that she can continue to do it. This is a phase and it will get better. Have you tried talking to her and asking her what would make her feel more comfy being in her bed at night. Maybe give her her very own flashlight and tell her it's her magical torch that will keep away whatever she's afraid of. You guys can decorate it do she can really make it her own. Good luck. Be firm but not mean to her, it's hard being scared in the dark.

I asked her what would make her feel more comfortable and she said mommy staying in bed with her all night. Lol. I'll just have to stick to moving her back into bed every night.

I listened to a podcast recently where they had a children's sleep expert come on and discuss regressions. She said if the child previously slept through the night, and now they're suddenly getting up, the best thing to do is go back to the basics of what has always worked for you. And then just sit tight and ride it out.
