Dog doesn't like me cause I'm pregnant?!

Little dogs are a$$holes. Lol, to put it frankly. I have two Chihuahuas and while they are sweet, their temperaments and attitudes are completely different from any large breed dog I've had. Mine couldn't get enough of me while I was pregnant, no matter how hard I tried to get them to leave me alpne lol

He is getting really mean with me and I don't understand why. I give him treats, I pet him, take him for walks and play with him and his toys. He doesn't do this with anyone else.

Its probably the change in your hormones. They can tell something is different but aren't sure what. I'm sure the reaction is different for every dog- some get clingy and some get distant. It shouldn't last forever.

I hope not! I don't know what to do when he gets like this. I am going to find a behavioral specialist for doggies near me and see what they have to say

I have a Yorkie who just turned 2 & instead of him not liking me he's even more attached.. Now when it comes to certain people he doesn't like them around me & now he barks at the door. He's still a puppy & still needs discipline so when he tries to bite or bark/growl tell him NO! & be stern.. I'm sure he loves you when you guys walk, that's all my dog wants to do is be outside.. And when or before you come home from the hospital after baby is born maybe wrap the baby in a swaddle blanket and let him get used to the new baby smell that way

It freaks me out, when I tell him no he continues to growl at me even more. I wish he was all cuddly with me. The only time he wants to be near me is when my DF is home.

Ummm YES!!! im going through the same thing right now. .. to the point im ready to rehome him! We got him at 9weeks old..hes 2.5 now. Always been the sweetest most loving & well behaved dog EVER. the last few months he's been skiddish around me.. defiant. . Refusing to eat (for days!) Crating himself when im around.. but more seriously, growling barking and snapping at me. Like... put his teeth around my arm when i leaned to pick something up. All the time. And yes... ONLY ME! he's a pit too... so when he snarls & snaps its a notch up from scary. Ive noticed myself starting to really dislike him bc of it & it makes me sad! I'm at a loss... if you figure it out I'd love to know!

Hormones might be making you smell funny... Some dogs just freak out with pregnant women. My hubby's boss's dog was so friendly with everyone at their cookout except me. And I'm a dog lover...

@me I am going to call the vet tomorrow to see what they suggest. If I get any sort of answer out of them I'll let you know.

Would it be a smell just the dog notices? As far as I'm concerned I don't stink lol

Lol, I don't mean that you (or I) actually stink. But hormones will change the scents that your body releases, and many dog breeds are sensitive to smells that we, as humans, cannot smell. For example, we could never track someone by smelling the air and ground where they have walked, but dogs can. It's very likely that the changes in our body make us less desirable to some dogs.

My moms dog use to pee on me every time I went there when I was pregnant.. lol never has done it ever to anyone else.. Only me when I was pregnant..

Dogs understand more than we think.

Ugh my dog is the same as i get further into pregnancy, im taking her to training before the baby comes.
