My daughters vaccinations?! Not a debate!!
My daughter turns 4 tomorrow! Yayy! So I called her dr office to see if she needed to come in for a wellness check and any vaccinations. The lady I spoke to told me she NEVER received her chicken pox vaccination?! At what age are they suppose to get this vaccination and why are they now just telling me? I've called them at every birthday to make sure she is up to date on shots and if not what she needed. Then she asked me what was the purpose of me calling?! I said "because she is 4 and I wanted to make sure she didn't need any other shots and if she did then to schedule an appt. sorry it's a rant and a question mixed into one !

I'm pretty sure varicella is the last vaccine they get for a while. My ds got his at his 4 year check up. It was his second dose and the last vax he needed before kindergarten. I bring him in for a check up every year even if he's not due for any vaccines though.

What gets me is she has been in for other reasons-
Referral to an ENT
Having a cold
And I always ask if she is up to date on everything else and they never say she didn't get it. All of a sudden she has gone 4 years without a chicken pox vaccination?

I didn't get it until I was in 8th grade. But I also had the chicken pox when I was a toddler before moving to a different state.

It is usually given with the hep A at a year old (and maybe MMR? I forgot!). Either way, there's normally a booster at 4 anyway, she can just get the booster and will be fine.
