Never been on birth control.

What I know of the mini pill is that it's the least effective hormonal birth control, and that it MUST be taken at exactly the same time each day or you risk failure. For me, that's not at all secure enough.

I've been on the pill (loestrin) and had the mirena. Mirena would be my personal choice- no side effects except for 4 years I barely had a period.

I was on the mini pill but only while nursing. Are u breast feeding at this time? After I was done nursing I got the Essure procedure. It's coils inserted into your Fallopian tubes (it's permanent birth control) but takes 3mths to take effect so I was on lowestrin (spelling is probably wrong) I didn't have any negative side effects from that

I have the nexplanon. It's the most effective form of BC.

Is there a difference between the pill and the mini pill?

If you've never been on bc I would strongly urge you to continue avoiding it. It is not good for our bodies & many many women who use bc end up with hormone imbalances.

I would pick up a copy of Take Charge of Your Fertility & learn about FAM (fertility awareness method) or NFP (natural family planning).

Utilize condoms while learning &/or through your fertile windows.

It's much cheaper (free if you just avoid intercourse during your fertile window) and there are zero negative side effects. It's also INCREDIBLY effective if you use if properly & listen/take heed to your O signs.

I highly recommend making an appointment with your doctor and discussing your options. You can go home and read up on them or even ask your doc for a prescription that day.

There are many, many different types of birth control and no one here can tell you what's best for you. Your doctor can point you in the right direction.

I have paragard and love it.

I was on the the mini pill (and using condoms) when I got pregnant with my daughter, so I wouldn't say it was extremely effect!

Are condoms not an option?

Only asking because i've heard so many bad things about birth control. I should add, I've never been on bc either.

I'm with Runs. NFP worked for us for 11 years. I only got pregnant when we were actively trying to conceive. The hormones and copper implants are just not worth it. I read the stories in our law journal about the class action law suits and I get so angry every time. These pharm companies pump women full of crap they know is unhealthy and set aside a fraction of the profits beforehand to settle. The side effects are life changing or ending in a lot of cases. I can't allow that for my girls. Hopefully, there will be better options 15-20 years down the road.

I made an appt with my doctor for next week. I will definitely look into FAM. I have avoided birth control so far because of the hormones and stuff I read.

The mini pill is only good if you are breastfeeding. While not breastfeeding I took loestra or something like that. All bc sucks :)

When I was in high school I used the patch and loved it. After high school I stopped taking it and haven't taken BC since. My doctor told me if I started BC my milk supply would go down. I just never went back for it.

We use NFP in our marriage and it has worked great for us when avoiding pregnancy and trying to conceive.

Birth control destroyed my hormones!!! I will never again go back on it and I recommend considering condoms or a diaphragm. They aren't as reliable but they won't mess up your body.
