Ahhhhhhhh ?????

So it was a big family gathering today at my house. My son ended up having a bad blow out and needed a bath. When the word bath is said my husbands 2 yr old niece will through a tantrum untill she gets one. SO decided to just give them both a bath. I told SO to be very careful (my son is 2mo) with them both being in the tub together. We have a little bath tub for him but we keep it in the big tub so water doesn't get on the floor. Anyways, SO is giving them a bath an all I hear is "Chloe I told u no!" And my son crying ! So i run into the bathroom and his face is dropping wet. Well she poured a BIG glass of water in his face. He was still all soapy so my husband put him back in his bath and started to rinse him and I was standing there ready to get him out when Chloe grabs his penis and starts to try an pull it off. So Charlie starts crying ? I just go and grab my son. Needless to say ... my son didn't have a good bath ???????

Wtf.

That's all I gotta say before I say something rude and get jumped on.

Poor baby ?

ETA: not rude to you, something rude about that other child's behavior.

Your niece is 2 and 2 yr olds do silly things like that BUT her parents should have taken her and controlled her instead of giving in to her tantrum throwing.

She is 2 and shouldn't be dictating her rules, throwing tantrums and getting her way just to shut her up.

I would not have let a 2 yr old having a tantrum about a bath take one with my 2 month old. I might have told her parents they need a backbone. In any case after that do not trust her around your lo.

2 years do silly things like that, they don't always understand the potential harm. That being said, Id never bath a 2 month old with a 2 year old. Most 2 month olds can't sit up reliably enough and know to close mouths and eyes that they'd be safe in water with an active 2 year old.

I don't bath my kids together. I give all 3 separate baths w fresh water. In the situation you described, you're giving 1 a bath bc of a blow out. Even if you wiped up first, there still could be bacteria from the poo on him, that now the other child is bathing in. This could lead to illness (especially if it turns out the blowout was the beginning of diarrhea illness.)

And like a pp said, youre basically giving into the tantrum of a 2 year at the expense of the 2 month old. If 2 yr needed a bath, she could've had one afterwards.

Guess who's 2 year old would be throwing a tantrum ?? this child has got to learn rules. I would explain to her that it wasn't her bath time, and leave it at that. Also, your husband shouldn't have to be responsible for watching/bathing her too. That's ridiculous.

I would've let her have the tantrum & ignored it lol. She has to stop crying eventually.

When I was a kid and threw a tantrum at home my parents ignored me. 99.9% of the time I used up so much energy from crying and ended up falling asleep during the process ??? I would wake up refreshed & forget the reason why I was crying in the first place.

Parents should never feed into tantrums & should ignore them if possible. (Unless you're out in public...that's embarrassing)

What did her parents say about all of this?

She can cry all she wants but she doesn't just get to take a bath because my kid is, especially if he had a massive poop blow out, why put another child in the tub?? Everyone needs to start putting their foot down or there will be one spoiled little girl in the future. Reminds me of my niece who is 6 and still throws tantrums because she will get her way, it's horrible.

Oh goodness. The 2 yr old definitely needs rules. I bath my kids together and dd1 was just a month and half away from being 2 when I had her sister she never did anything like that. My niece is like this. I don't give into it. Her parents on the other hand do. I mean she goes into rages. She threw a desk at her teacher ?. She curses like you wouldn't believe. She told her dad she was going to whoop her mama's ass for taking the phone those were the words she used and he just laughed... I was shocked.

The kids were in separate baths. He was in his bath tub in the big bath tub and she was in the big bath tub with a little bit of water. So the water was separate. But yes I agree the 2 yr old is a brat. Her parents let her do whatever and pawn her off on everyone else. It's bull. And my son had to pay because my husband gave in. She walked into the bathroom and took of her chlothes and tried to get in. He initially told her no but when she was crying he decided that would be easier to just put her in there and have her sit in the tub instead of sit on the floor and cry. Still pissed

Her mom just laughed. And today I was still upset so I didn't talk to her and now she's telling everyone I'm being over emotional and I just don't like her kid.

Sarah, the other child is 2! How on earth could you say something rude about a 2 year old?! I'm sure it's upsetting, but baby is fine and the story made me laugh! Lol. I would always pour the water right over their face. The earlier you star, the better they are with water in their eyes and holding their breath. No harm, but his poor Winkie lol.
