No I think medication is required . If it's a breastfeeding thrush im not familiar but I do think they treat mother and baby.

My son had it and it went away on its own. They did give me medication which I used about twice .

Yes they have to treat mom and baby, there are non medicated remedies but yes needs to be treated. Gentian violet usually works in one round

Op is true!
Both my kids have had thrush and I never have to get treated for it.
Doctors told me the same thing. What I would do I would just put the same medicine that they were taking on my nipples. Never had problems.
