Baby shower help!!!
So a friend recently said she will through my baby shower for us. I was very excited and agreed. But her 12 year old daughter made a comment and said "all you have to do is pay for it all !!! " her mom said stop right after but I'm confused... do I pay for everything? Because my hubby and I didn't even have a reveal party because we couldn't afford it, and if that's the case I don't know what to do. ?? how much did your baby shower cost ?

If she is throwing one for you then all you should have to do is attend.
Idk how on average it costs because my mom and aunt threw us one.

Usually if someone offers to throw the shower for you it is a gift to you.

Depends on how many people are coming and where you having it at? And You can't forget about the food, games and cake.

Maybe her daughter was just being a smarta**? Do you feel comfortable enough to just ask her directly about her daughters comment? Usually it's at no cost to you so it is strange.

You should ask her what she intends to do about the cost before this gets started. I wouldn't want to have a falling out down the road.

Typically, if someone offers to throw you a shower, they foot the bill. Otherwise, you could throw it yourself, there'd be no point to her doing it.

There have been women on here before who have ranted about covering the cost of a baby shower for a friend. There have been women whom have ranted about someone backing out of doing their shower and the OP not having the funds for her own shower. I personally don't know what's "normal" but clear the air sooner rather than later.

^I definitely agree that you should speak to her about it before she begins planning.
I've personally never heard of someone throwing a shower and expecting the mom-to-be to pay for it. It's just not done like that around here.

I feel like there's a difference between throwing a shower and planning a shower. I honestly didn't even want one but my family and SO'S family insisted. My mom paid for a majority and my aunt helped plan it, and then mil helped and paid a little as well. I'm not sure how much it is. But I would definitely ask her and if she isn't paying then plan your own with things you can afford. Or during a time where people won't be expecting a meal but just some snacks.

Okay I'll defiantly ask ! Thanks ladies ! I was just assuming she would cover it since she's doing everything herself. But we will see !!
