I don't know if it's the make of my formula that's doing this my son has been having problems for the last month with opening his bowels, he's on lactulose has been for nearly a month now, ever since i gave him milk out of the carton he's had an upset tummy. He's on sma gold before that though his bowels worked fine. I feel like I've ruined his bowels and he's only 2.5 months old :( we went back to the doctors today because today he hasn't stopped crying and his belly is hard, she's given us some senna I just don't know what to do anymore. He seems to like sma.

The senna should work quite quickly, different laxatives work in different ways so hopefully it will do the trick for the immediate problem.
Have you changed the formula? I wasn't sure from your post whether you meant you had.x

No I've not changed it he's been on sma gold since birth, he loves his milk he talks 7oz every 4 hours on a good day so I'm not wanting to change x

Oops I forgot to ask how old is baby too? Well I don't now much about it but SMA make a comfort milk which I think is often used where recurrent constipation is a problem.
You could try regular small
Amounts of cool boiled water, depending on babies age. my HV once recommended missing out one scoop of formula when making a bottle up, but not sure how well used that method is.x

He will be 3 months on the 25th, I was thinking about changing it to comfort to be honest. I didn't wanna change the whole brand when he seems to like it. I wouldn't take an oz of water out of his bottle and then do 7 scoops as it says not to do so on the tin. Xx

That milk made my friends baby so constipated they took her to a&e her bum was ripping, as soon as they changed her milk shes never been constipated again. Always heard bad about sma, maybe try changing it ?? Xxx

Iv read that sma is missing things that aptimal and cow and gate have causing some babies to be constipated and unsettled aswell xxx

My son was constipated on sma . Changed him over to cow and gate - that was 7 years ago . It helped a bit but to be honesty he had problems with constipation for a years after that , he is fine now tho xx

Hmm maybe I should look at changing his milk. I just don't wanna keep changing because I know he likes sma. Xx
