I feel like there was a post about this just a little while ago, but it's actually the law now that you have to rear face until 2, or a certain weight I believe.

Some states require rear facing until 2, but not everywhere. Whenever someone tells me that ds will end up breaking his legs in an accident j always tell them I'd rather deal with broken legs than him dying.

Rate of broken legs are SIGNIFICANTLY high in forward facing kids.

We still rear face at 4 bc DD still fits in the seats. She doesn't cry, or get bored, or have any issues at all.

Ds is 16 months and is still rear facing. I get anxiety just thinking about switching him forward fading. Everyone says he will get bored or whatever. But he has no problem rear facing. He can look out the window and it's all he has ever known, he doesn't know what it's like to forward face. Some people say it's easier but Idc it is harder to get him in his seat now that he is getting bigger but that's not enough to forward face him yet. I'm not ready for that and neither is he.

Rear facing with fear tactics?

My ds is 15 months and is still rear facing. He has a mirror so he can see himself (and I can see him too).

Also, your child's legs will not break if they are rear facing. That's been debunked many times.

There was a great post about a lady that had 2 kids in the car about a year apart. One rear facing and the other not. Rear facing walked away unharmed. Forward facing nearly died and broke different vertebrae.

I would much rather my child to break their leg in an accident than break their neck or back. I'll bump the article

Yeah. She's using the common things like legs won't be comfortable and her legs are going to break. She's going to get bored. She also thinks she is a doctor. Any time I think anything is wrong with my child she's like no no. She's fine. Its probably just this. Shush woman. I love her to bits but she's judging me based on what I feel is okay for my child's safety. Pfft.

Why can't people just mind their business. I swear everyone has an opinion on everything. When someone says something I just ignore them lol and walk away. When they say it again I say oh I heard you the first time I just don't remember asking for your opinion

Ugh, my MIL is like this. She doesn't get why I RF my 23 month old, she doesn't understand why my 4 year old

is in a 5 point harness instead of a booster, she doesn't get why their straps are "so tight", and she doesn't understand why I won't allow her to use used and expired carseats in her car.

I've never heard of broken legs in rear facing accidents.

I'd rather uncomfortable, whining baby/toddler, then risk a spinal or neck injury that could possibly give said baby/toddler angel wings prematurely.

Oh. Don't get me started on tight. My daughter hates her carseat and sounds like she's in pain when I first out her in it. As soon as we start moving. Silence. My uncle told me to loosen it because it's hurting her and she was screaming. I picked the seat up and she went quiet. Its choking her apparently. I'm not jeopardizing my child's safety because someone thinks she's not comfy.

In cases like these I tend to offer to share some reputable resources on rear facing. In the end they don't have to agree with you but they should respect your decision.
