Switching doctors mid way?
I am trying to switch to my “old” OBGYN. When I found out I was pregnant, I decided to try a new doctor because my “old” one wouldn’t see me until 11 weeks. I had a miscarriage prior, and I felt like I couldn’t wait that long. My new doctor experience has been a nightmare. I called my “old” office to see if I could come back, and am currently waiting to see if she will approve it, because I have already been seen elsewhere. I’m currently 19w5d and am so nervous she won’t take me back. Has anyone experienced switching doctors mid-pregnancy?

I did this with my first pregnancy. I didn’t like my first OB and found a better one that a lot of friends and family recommended. I was probably 3-4 months when I switched. (So glad I did. She was amazing. Lol) All they did was get my paperwork and lab results from my old OB and I had to fill out new patient forms at the new one and it was just fine.

Usually OBs don't like to take on a patient once they hit about 30 weeks. Its usually harder around that time to switch. But since your not even 20 weeks yet then I figure your old OB will take you back. Should be a pretty easy process if they do tho.

We are supposed to move states several weeks before my due date (military). I've already called OBs there and explained the situation. They are willing to take me that late. I switched with my Oldest around 25 weeks also. It all depends on the doctor. Some don't like to, but you may be able to find another that will if your previous doctor cant.

I’ve had some friends have bad experiences with the hospital my OB exclusively delivers in. I’m tempted to change as well because I’m just scared I’ll also have a bad experience. Also, I feel like my current OB is just a baby-factory.

Thanks for your input y’all! I called on Tuesday and am STILL waiting for a call back. I’m trying to decide if I should call this afternoon and check or Monday. If this office doesn’t accept me, I’m calling around until I find someone who will. Definitely cannot stay where I’m at.
