Weight gain Obsessed

Y’all. So I started off this pregnancy at 300lbs. Which makes me want to gag, but that’s besides the point. My doctor told me I could only gain 10lb max, but ideally he’d like me to gain 0. Zero?! I’m 11 weeks. And haven’t gained anything yet. But I’m a nervous wreak about moving forward. How do I gain 0lbs when adding all this fluid, blood volume, a baby! It’s driving me crazy. My next doctors appointment is January 3, right after the holidays, so I feel like I will be huge! Okay. Just needed to vent!

So realistically, with the weight of baby, amniotic fluid, placenta, etc. you’ll have to be losing body fat in order to not gain any weight... which sounds kind of nuts to me. I’d say just try to stick with a goal of no more than 10 lbs, and don’t sweat it if you gain more than his recommended zero!

Drs suck sometimes. I was 204 and i am 5'3 my regular dr. Told me to gain only 15. Thankfully my ob is happy i gained 30 lbs however a lot is bc baby girl is actually on the big side. I am now measuring 4 weeks ahead of what i am supposed to be and just started 33 weeks.

The best advise i can give you is enjoy your pregnancy. I think your dr is an ass for telling you to gain 0 because as pp said that would mean you would have to lose weight in other areas to accommodate for fluid, baby and all other pregnancy add ons

I completely understand as my ob said 0 pound weight gain and sent me to a dietician. Now on low carb diet and following it but still gained 2 pounds so far.

Wow that’s seems crazy and probably impossible that means you would be losing weight because at least 10 lbs is baby and fluid. Ironically I’m having the opposite problem with my doctor he told me to gain weight and I think he’s crazy! I started at 254 which is 25lbs heavier than my first pregnancy so I thought I be getting talked to about weight gain. But I lost 14lbs from being so sick and haven’t gained anything back by my last appointment at 24 weeks so he told me he will be concerned if I haven’t gained by my next appointment. I was completely baffled! It’s so weird that doctors are so different?

My dr said the same thing. Ideally 0 (which means losing) or 7-10lbs. I'm currently 246 so I've lost about 3 lbs. I haven't been sick at all but I don't have the biggest appetite because of this meatball. But I'm also eating better than I did before getting pregnant because it's not for me anymore. I can see me "gaining" 0 but I'm also not going to stress about it. So long as I'm eating healthy, getting just a little exercise and baby is doing well, I don't care what I gain. I'm screwed by genetics (accounts for 80% of you're weight) so I just need to eat well. Pregnancy is definitely not the time to crash diet and obsess over weight in my opinion. So long as you're eating well and getting some exercise (maybe an evening stroll) I'm sure you'll be fine.

I started my pregnancy weighing 350+ and throughout the morning sickness phase I lost and went down to 343 lbs .... The lowest I went was 338lbs and my doctor literally yelled at me to stop loosing weight and to start gaining.... All I changed in my diet was my water intake, I started drinking more than I've ever drank before pregnancy, I didn't change how I eat or what I eat .... Even my nutritionist said I need to gain 30lbs by the end of my pregnancy I'm now 20 wks I'm weighing 344 lbs

I'm 261 and I've never started off a pregnancy quite this heavy and I've been actually told to lose 20 lbs this pregnancy . And in all realistically if we eat only a regular 1800 to 2200 calorie diet we should be losing weight like crazy pregnant or not

With my son, my OB never even mentioned my weight. I was 229 when I got pregnant with him. I am currently 10w7d with my second baby, and I weigh the same. All my doctor said was to stay active and eat well. I gained 15lbs with my son, but not until almost 3rd trimester, which makes sense as the baby gets bigger. I lost 26 at birth, but I gained it back because I got lazy. I managed to lose the original 15 over the past year. I am taking better care of myself now, so I hope to lose the weight and keep it off after this baby is born.

You really can’t control the scale during pregnancy, just your own habits. As long as you are eating healthy foods and getting a healthy amount of activity, have a clean conscience about it and enjoy your pregnancy!

I’ve been watching my calories because I’m only supposed to gain 15 Ibs max. I’ve been losing about a pound a day this last week. I’m 17w3d
