I asked my doctor and she was sort of vague . She seemed ok with it but said I might definitely need to adjust my routine by third trimester .
Always ask your doctor, but my preferred birthing method (Bradley) recommends doing squats multiple times a day, every day of pregnancy, starting at the beginning. I do regular weight barring squats to tone my muscles and deep, yoga type squats to help stretch everything out. I've done it with all my pregnancies and have never dilated early. I actually don't dilate much at all until I'm actually in labor. I think squats are one of the best exercises a pregnant mama can do.
Oh good ! Someone told me they can prematurely dialate the cervix or something but I want to keep doing them .
Squats are awesome for the pregnant woman, throughout pregnancy. They are really good for strengthening and stretching the pelvic floor in preparation for labor. I've read quite a few studies that said women that do them throughout are less likely to tear during delivery and heal quicker than those who don't. (I don't Remer percentages/statistics) :)
I also love the squatting position for pushing during labor. It helped so much with my 2nd and 3rd babies (9.4lbs and 8.3lbs)
