They told you 1/3 chance at the actual appointment? I thought they had to look at a combination of factors, including ultrasound, and blood at 12 weeks and 18 weeks?

I tested "positive" for having a higher chance of my last having trisomy 18 and after further testing, she was fine. She's 2 years old now. Try not to stress, easier said than done I know but remember, those tests have a high false positive rate.

Those are high chances but I know a girl that had been told over a 95% chance (don't remember exactly but think it was 98) even after the amnio. Her baby was born completely healthy.

Yes they did the blood work and ultrasound and said based off my birthday 1 in 3 chance. But I think there wrong.

I'd say there is a chance they are wrong but if your that concerned you can pay for a non invasive blood test which is at no risk to the baby it's 99% accurate and tells you if they are downs or not I'm 1 in 190 and I should be in the thousands for my age so I'm also high risk but like my mum said you can be in the tens of thousands it only takes that one chance for your baby to have Down syndrome it's something which happens by chance I've had a few scans since and he shows no signs of it e.g. The nasal bone and shape of the skull sometimes that's a good indicator of if your baby has it or not, I hope your baby is healthy and everything is ok☺️

Thank you! That's the basic reason why. They kept trying to get good pictures of the face but he keeps putting his hands in the way. Yet I got those results. The test here is 500$ I'm putting my faith that by my 18 week ultrasound things will be fine! Either way baby will be loved ?
