Can a newborn sleep too much?
Hey ladies, my 16 day old sleeps like all of the time. I usually have to wake her up to eat, and she will fall back asleep within a few minutes of latching. She probably has two 30 minute stretches of being wide eyed, but sleeps the remainder of the time. My first never slept this much so I'm a little nervous that something is wrong. Does anyone else's little one sleep most of the day?

My son was like that for a while. He’s a month old and now has longer periods of being awake but still sleeps a good part of the day.

My first wanted to sleep all night. She was great! I woke her up because I was worried about her blood sugar dropping. I worried about her getting into too deep of a sleep.

My son did that. My first did not so I too assumed something was wrong! He definitely has more wake time now at almost 3 weeks old… But for a while there I swear he was sleeping 22 to 23 hours a day!

I googled this last week. I don’t remember my first sleeping this much. Basically, no. As long as they are waking up to eat, they can’t sleep too much.
