Baby tips/tricks you wish someone had told you sooner

-Zip up pj's saved my sanity during super long nursing sessions.

-Breastfeeding may not come naturally to every mom- don't beat yourself up about it!

-Make food and freeze before baby comes bc life is crazy for a little while- more so if you already have kiddos.

Zip up pjs are also a million times easier when you are half asleep in the middle of the night trying to change your baby. Lol

Set up diapers, wipes, cream, etc close by your bed/baby's sleeping area-in the living room and where you're going to be most of the time.

Start Soy Lechin right away close to your due date, as when your milk comes in, it's going to be painful and you may have clogged/swollen ducts that won't go away until breastfeeding is established.

More of a safety thing: I used to hate those little signs like 'baby on board' that people put in the back window of their cars. I thought it's just showing off. But they are actually really important. In the case of an accident they direct the emergency workers to where the baby or toddler sits in case of poor vision like smoke preventing them from looking into the car. So put them behind the seat where the car seat is to show on which side of the car they need to look. Also every child that isn't old enough to unbuckle themselves should get a sign/ sticker.

The 5 S's from The Happiest Baby on the Block, especially shushing. Saved my sanity those first couple of months and soothed my daughter almost every time.

If baby gets gas, lay her on her tummy on one of your forearms and rock and pat with the other hand. It will help pass the gas easier that way.

My daughter had terrible gas and colic and we struggled for almost 5 months before someone told us to try this. I swear nearly 3 months of gas escaped her poor belly within mins of trying this. And she was on special diet and medicines to help with gas too.

If breastfeeding, do reclined nursing. (Look it up). Most people dont know about it and even lactation consultants may try and put you and baby in a different position. But puppies and kittens eat on their bellies and your baby is wired to eat that way too. It will be so much easier on you and baby to try reclined nursing.

I'm gonna be the opposite in the zip sleepers. Unless it's a backwards zipper that zips top to bottom to close instead of bottom to top I hated them. You essentially have to get baby almost completely naked to change and they get cold. Snaps in my option are better because you can just open up the bottom and not expose all of baby to the cold air.

If baby has trouble burping bounce them gently on your knee. My kids could never burp from just patting their back but the bounce worked everytime.

☆Coconut water helps milk production.

☆Concentrated pineapple juice helps keep from getting plugged milk ducts. I drank them daily the first couple of weeks.

☆ It's okay to pump after baby nurses to make sure your milk empties out. Sometimes I had to pump some prior to nursing because my son would drown and wouldn't nurse well.

☆Keep snacks and water by when nursing. I always got hungry and thirsty while nursing.

If you have a boy, always throw a wipe or washcloth over his penis when diaper changing. Even when you think you can change him fast enough, if you don't cover it you will indeed get peed on!

Sleep sacks are awesome in the beginning! No snaps or zippers. If your worried about them being cold either use the kind that can be tied at the bottom or put soft pants on them.

^^ sleep sacks are a must!! I always got the kind with elastic at the bottom so I could just roll it up when changing diapers
