Link between GD and thyroid issues?
I had GD with my daughter who was born 8 months ago in July 2017. I did the post-birth follow up glucose test and failed so I was sent to an Endocrinologist. She thought my thyroid felt lumpy, and scheduled an appointment to see me again in 6 months which is now 2 weeks away. I did the pre-appointment bloodwork and my TSH levels came back SKY HIGH. Consistent with Hypothyroidism. But my bloodwork didn't show that at all 6 months ago. I should add that I'm pregnant again (5.5 weeks). Did anyone else have issues with their thyroid early in pregnancy or after having GD?

At the beginning of my second pregnancy the Dr checked my thyroid levels and they were normal. I had gd with my first and I have it with the current one. They also ran bloodwork to see if I had developed type 2 diabetes and I didn't have that either. Just gestational

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for 6 years. According to my endo, there is definitely a link! Most hypo is caused by an autoimmune disorder called Hashimotos. It's very common for thyroid problems to come about in pregnancy. Hopefully your thyroid goes back to normal after pregnancy. Look up hypothyroid/autoimmune diet. It will help your thyroid and your sugar levels
