Is it safe to take stool softeners if breastfeeding?
After my daughter was born, in the hospital I was given stool softeners each morning. I had purchased some in advance to have ready at home, but the bottle says to consult a doctor before using of breastfeeding. Any breastfeeding moms taking stool softeners? Or know whether or not it's safe?

Id ask the doctors for a prescription or double check! Not all stool softeners are the same.

I was prescribed some by the doctor when deing discharged. and was givin them to take at the hospital too...

I was given some in the hospital and she knew I was breastfeeding.

I was given doclace in the hospital and they sent me home with a prescription for it. I am breastfeeding and haven't had any issues regarding it. I'd call and make sure the brand you got is fine or even see if they will give you a prescription once you're discharged.

I was given them by the doctor also when discharged from the hospital and told to take it twice a day. I stopped after about 2 days home because my stomach was upset (tmi but I had like diarrhea) so I thought I didn't need them anymore.
