I used a birth pool for my med free home birth. The water really helped keep my mind off the contractions and with pushing. I've heard great things about hypnobirthing, if it's your first birth I would look into something like that.

Same as pp

Ftm here who had babe 2 weeks ago

I had a waterbirth and it was amazing, you can move freely with the contractions. I believe this helped me not tear

In labour i had hot showers to tame the contractions and my partner would rub my lower back also. I had the gas but my midwife turned it off and i didnt even realise. I would focus on the breathing tube through each contraction and focus on my breathing instead of the pain

My labour was 13 hours all up

Take the pain as a good pain, each contraction bringing you closer to meetinv your little one

Good luck!

I wasn't med free lol but until I was the birthing ball helped as well as a hot shower. My husband sprayed the water back and forth over my back and belly during contractions. After an hour he needed a break so I switched over to using nitrous oxide.

For me being able to move however I needed to during contractions was nice. At one point I was hanging onto the side of the bed squatting really low to the floor. The birthing ball (yoga ball) was great in early labour. As things got going (I progressed really fast going from 5-10 in 45min) hip squeezes with each contraction and having my doula talk me through each one was what got me through. She would squeeze my hips and talk to me as I leaned on my husband for support. Good luck!!

I had my lo two weeks ago epi free because of high platelets, for me I just went into my own little world with each contraction. I'd sit straight up and rock side to side (helped to keep me from tensing up) and I'd close my eyes and just breathe. I ended up being able to get one shot of iv meds and was able to nap for about 40 minutes though and it relaxes me so much I went from a 5 to a 10 in that time just like pp

This is going to sound nuts but it TOTALLY works... Apparently the Amish practice it.

Get two standard combs (hair combs) from CVS or Walgreens. Hold them in your hands with the teeth towards your palms and squeeze. The brain can only process pain in one place at one time.... It was a life saver!!

Birthing tub is also great ???

I went med free for both of my kids and was induced for both. I would breathe in 4 counts and exhale 8 counts over and over until the contraction ended. As I did that, I focused on keeping my muscles as relaxed as possible..not giving into the pain. I used what I could remember from my Hypnobirthing classes. None of it is easy but it's certainly doable! As I got further into labor, I would make deep, guttural moans when I exhaled. It helped me through the contraction. I've never counted to 4 and 8 so much in my life. ?
