Stadol? Any vet mom's have experience with Stadol in prior births? If so, would you mind sharing if…

I had it and it knocked me out between contractions. It didn't take away the pain but it took the edge off and it was nice to drift off with my contractions lol it completely wore off by the time I was ready to push though, so I was fully alert

I had a very similar experience as pp. The only difference being that narcotics make me very drowsy and after the pain management aspect wore off I was very sleepy. To the point that after I delivered I didn't care to hold my daughter I was too exhausted.

I felt everything before I actually started pushing and gave birth.

If I were you I'd look into natural pain management and use stadol as a last resort.

I never tried but my friend was on as I was there during her delivery; she regret it so badly she was delirious, so out of it.

@sdewebb, was your daughter also a bit out of it? One of the biggest drawbacks to me is that it can make baby drowsy and less interested in breastfeeding right away. But I really appreciate you guys sharing your experiences (and those of people you know)!

It was horrible my son came out very very irritable and couldn't eat for 24 hours they think it was due to the stadol. It made me feel drunk I didn't like it. Wouldn't recommend it

Oh I didn't know it affected baby too. My dd latched on and was totally alert immediately after birth. She did sleep a lot the next day though, and I didn't sleep at all until Sunday morning, and I gave birth Friday night right after midnight. I don't tolerate pain meds well though so idk if that's why

I had it during labor. I had been in the hospital in labor for about 27 hours. I was exhausted and angry because I was hooked up but to IVs and monitors, in pain, and unable to move freely. The staidol allowed me to be rest for a few hours. Then I was alert and ready to push after it wore off. Baby seemed fine and latched right away. I'd prefer not to use drugs... but, I was glad for the relief last time.

I do not want to worry you, but I had a very bad reaction to Stadol. More than just feeling loopy or drunk, I was hallucinating, and not in a good way. It totally scared me to death. I'm not sure if maybe they can try a low dose first to see how you react to it? I'm never having that stuff again. Good luck, Hun.

Felt the pain of labor and delivery and Felt high not in a good way (which isn't something I like) I hated my experience.

Stadol made me feel drunk, and did nothing to take the edge off my pain.

My daughter nursed right away for about an hour then it took me quite a bit to get her to nurse again. The next day she was very sleepy. The nurses said it was normal...maybe it really wasn't.

My mom had stadol with one of her births and the rest of us were natural. She said she hated it, she said things similar to what I'm reading in this thread- made her feel drunk/ sick but didn't do much for the pain. That she'd rather do natural but that was her last one (there are 5 of us!)

I had it, and it made me feel really loopy and nauseated. It didn't really help with the pain either. (I'm pretty sensitive to pain meds though, I bet it has worked for other people)
