Air conditioning in Baby's room ?
I am considering buying an air conditioner for the baby's room.. Now that the weather is warmer my house is so hot and we don't have central air. All we have is a window air conditioner for our bedroom which we haven't installed yet. I'm really concerned about the temperature in the baby's nursery. Right now it's 79 degrees and that's with the window open and two fans on.. It cools right down in the middle of the night but I feel like that's way too hot for the baby.. He's sleeping fine but I know they recommend the room being between 68-72. So I'm considering buying an air conditioner but I don't know if it's a good idea as I've heard they can just spread germs. Is anyone else dealing with this ? The stand alone air conditioners are so expensive so a window one would be a better option but they're also so loud... Blahh any advice ?!

Temp where i live is more often than not hotter than that.. its normal so i would freeze to death if i had the air conditioning on at that temp lol.
I think if its well ventilated and fan is on then it should be fine.

Overheating is serious and can be life-threatening. I would definitely do *something* in your situation. The noise could just act like a white noise machine and I think the germ issue is only if the unit is never cleaned. Can you used a swamp cooler maybe?

I'm going to purchase a portable air conditioner tomorrow. Isn't a swamp cooler similar to a fan? Right now his room is 79.. There's nothing I can do about it tonight as I have both fans on. I'll be opening the window later on when it cools down outside. I'm just going to be worried all night :(

I would think as long as it's on the other side of the room and not blowing on his crib it would be fine. We have central air and leave the vents open in his room , no different other than the noise.

I would much rather have my child cool and relaxed rather than over heated. That can be dangerous. So buy an ac Hun. Just set it at a 70 degree temp of something!

Could you get a standing fan? Or have a ceiling fan installed? I live in an apartment and when my five year old was I think 2, our ac went out in the middle of summer. A lot of people in our apartment complex had their ac go out. So it took a couple of days for the maintenance men to come by. While we were waiting, I went to walmart and bought two fans. Worked wonders. I suggest trying the fan out first if you still feel it's too hot for your baby, then buy the air conditioning machine.

We live in FL, with central AC his room is at about 78-79 and it no longer cools off over night. I just keep the fan on high and since the AC pulls the humidity out it actually feels pretty comfortable. He sleeps in just a diaper in his sleepsuit with thin cotton socks and thin cotton mitts. Otherwise his hands and feet are popsicles from the fan! I still check him every morning and he's definitely not getting hot.

I live in Florida and we run the ac constantly.
I keep it at 70 with a fan on high at night 74 during the day when we are up and moving.
I personally would buy the ac. As for the noise, white noise/background sound has proven to lead to better sleep.
