Hey ladies I was hoping you could help me. My newborn feeds around 10-15 times a day but for short periods at a time (10-15 minutes each) and in worried that this isn't enough. When he's feeding I can hear him swallowing and he has to pull off a few times because he gets so much milk that he chokes on it.. I'm worried that the feedings are too short. I try to offer the other breast after he's finished on one and I've even tried a diaper change and to burp him to wake him up so he can feed again but he's always so tired after the one feeding.

As long as he's gaining weight well, he's getting enough. Mine only goes for both sides in one feeding in the evenings most of the time.

My daughter is two weeks old and she feeds exactly like this. She produces a good amount of wet and poop diapers. As long as your baby has a good diaper output they are getting enough.

My baby did the same for the first week and a half or so. 3 weeks tomorrow and she takes both now

Snacking is actually not as nutritious for them because they're not getting that fatty milk that's at the end of the feed. My son was snacking a lot for the first few weeks. I ended up pumping during the day and breastfeeding at night so I could make sure he was getting the good stuff

Try laying back for feeding.and then once that fast let down stops take off for a burp, he could be gulping back air with the fast flow and feeling full or sore. My mid wife also said for one feeding time feed on one side up to 4 times before going to the other.basically you want one side completely empty before offering use other. This ensures he gets a full feed. You can express a little off the other for comfort in between. I've found I get longer sleeps doing this. But like pps say if gaining then you know it's enough. My wee man is gaining so much lol.

My daughter is the same she feeds for only 10-15 minutes but her pediatrician says she's doing so good nursing at birth she only weighed 5 lbs 13 oz now she weigh 7 pounds 4. Oz at 2 weeks and making a lot of normal poopy and wet diapers so the Her doctors are actually very happy . Every baby is different from what I hear .
