Everyone says to me "you'll know when you're in labour".. But what if you don't know ? I've been having period like cramps all day which I've been having all week but it's generally while I'm laying down and as soon as I get up they go away.. But today it's different, I've been having really bad back cramps every so often and when I stand up and walk around they get much worse.. My stomach will tighten at the same time but I feel no pain in my stomach just the tightening combined with the pain in my back, pelvis and my hips..

I'm almost in this exact same spot. Lower back pains that come and go and stomach tightening but no pain in stomach. My doctor says I will know a contraction when it happens but I'm seriously worrying I won't. I had an appointment Monday and was not dialated or effaced at all. I am 40 weeks tomorrow and wondering if this is early labor or not.

With my first I had lots of back pain before my water broke but then after it broke my body failed to contract. They ended up giving me pitocin the next morning. With my second, I had consistently timed contractions all day, starting out light like Braxton hicks and getting more intense until I had him 24 hours later.
It's really the consistent timing that will be your clue you are really in labor.

I'm pretty sure this is the real thing. I tried showering, walking, eating and drinking and they're still coming every 9-15 minutes. I'm gonna take Tylenol and gravol and try to sleep

I'm 41 weeks 3 days lol. I've timed them for one hour so far and the average 1:02 minutes and they're roughly 8 minutes apart on average (ranging 7-9 min)

Could be, I thought the exact same thing when was due. I'm thinking how will I know! Haha definitely a different pain and you will feel that. Could be different for every one too. Mine felt like a sharp stitch pain in my lower abdomen and was in my bad and aching in my hips. That's was my only way I knew something was happening how ever they get
More painful on them selves. After I had a few hours of them, I decided to get up but they started to come on top of each other. I think my labour started quite quickly. And a couple hours later during one of those contractions my water broke and my plug/bloody show came out too! Hopefully it's the real deal so you can meet your little bundle of joy! ??
