Gallbladder Surgery

Found out last week that I have gallstones and an inflamed gallbladder. I met with the surgeon today. He gave me the run down and was leaning more towards getting it out but gave me the option to do it or not. Has anyone ever had theirs out during pregnancy?

When I was just in the hospital they thought it may have been my gall bladder (ended up being obstructed bowel) I had to have emergency surgery and they said that there is no better time to have surgery than in your 2nd trimester. It’s the safest time although they can’t guarantee how things will turn out for baby. I didn’t have the option to choose so I just prayed so hard for her to make it and she did! Good luck! I don’t know what the alternatives are to get rid of the stones, I know it’s a scary decision for you so I’ll be praying for you.

My sister got hers removed (not while pregnant) and it’s now 2 years later and she is still having problems where she is constantly on the toilet and has had to cut basically everything out of her diet, and now going back to see a specialist about some related issues she’s having and her surgery went amazingly. The pain of having the gull bladder and stones sucked but the past 2 years have been much much worse

I had mine out well before pregnancy. I wouldn't put it off unless it's a risk to the baby... If you get the surgery, you will recover quickly and then not need pain management afterwards. I recovered after a week of rest.

No but I've had it taken out not pregnant. You feel like a new person. I was so sick. It was leaking the fluids. They said they've never seen it that bad. And I was 20 when I got it out last year.
