Can vaccines in children cause miscarriage?
I had a MMC at 8 weeks. D&C at 9 weeks. Baby stopped developing at 6+4 which just happened to be the same time that my son got his MMR and chicken pox vaccine. It is a live vaccine and I am immune. I've had titers drawn during my last pregnancy 18 months ago. I did ask the pediatrician if it would be safe and she said yes. It could be a coincidence and I know the CDC says that it's safe but part of me thinks that it could be the vaccines that caused the miscarriage. Has anyone heard of this? I'm not looking for a debate about vaccines. Thanks!

Your asking if your son getting vaccinated caused your miscarriage? I'm 99.9% sure thats not what happened, especially if you're immune. Unfortunately sometimes these things just happen, and no one knows why. I'm sorry for your loss.

I haven't heard of anything like that before. I think that especially since it was your son and not you, that it's incredibly unlikely it caused the miscarriage. I know we all want to find a cause... in early miscarriages it's supposed to usually be chromosomal or a malformation of the baby that causes the body to miscarry. I drive myself crazy wondering why. I'll always wonder.

Yes I know it seems ridiculous. But yeah we always want to know why. I appreciate the reassurance that it probably didn't cause it. Thank you.

I just saw your reply penneflower (haven't been on here as much this week), but I wanted to say that you aren't alone on reaching far to try to find a reason. I was too embarrassed to even ask it here after my first, but for a few days I really wondered if some powerful sneezes and one day of somewhat tight jeans caused mine. My doctor said absolutely not, but my mind was just frantic to find a cause. Not knowing is enough to drive some people mad, myself included.

Thanks @penryn. I know the dr said it was probably chromosomal but I wish I could know for sure and I never will. How are you feeling?
