Genetic testing ? Anyone else not getting the optional genetic tests ? I'm 33 and I declined because…

I'm getting the scan for nuchal translucency. I'm 32 so insurance won't cover the more extensive blood tests. The NT scan isn't diagnostic... I'm just hoping it doesn't make me worry more, but I would want to be prepared in any case

I'm not getting any of them done either. Whatever we found out wouldn't change what we do or how much we love our baby. I'm 30 and had a healthy pregnancy and baby before so the doctors didn't recommend it. They said only if I wanted it, they didn't think it was necessary.

They wouldn't do an amino unless your chances are high. At least where I go.

I'm not doing it.

Thanks ladies. I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one that would have the baby no matter what the risks said. I know that the amnio wouldn't be necessary unless I came back with a high risk but I still wouldn't want to do it.

I didn't get them done with my first and will not with this baby.

I'll be 36 when i deliver and had to consult with a MFM (doc for high risk)He wanted me to have it bc of my age. I have 2 older children (6&4) that are perfectly healthy. The results would not change my mind about having this child so I'm opting not to have it done. At our 20 week ultrasound, if anything looks abnormal we'll proceed with the testing but only so our doctors can be prepared.
