Leg cramps... ?

So...I have been having legs cramps, painful and waking me up but they go as quick as they come. Well they did... the other night I had cramp so bad I screamed as I woke up and "jumped" as much as I could out of bed. Anyway, my leg is still killing me. Tell me others are having this pain??!!

Tonic water for the low dose of quinine is supposed to help.

I've suffered with this for years and the best thing for me has been regular magnesium (over the counter and available in supermarkets) and I also use a magnesium cream I rub in to my legs before bed each night... haven't had cramps in years since it's become regular in my routine. You could also try an Epsom salt bath before bed and if I start to feel any sort of cramp I drink heaps of hydralyte

It was very awkward! The midwife was asking me to keep my legs up so baby wasn't being pushed back in, but I couldn't hold my leg up and we had a stupid bed in my room. Luckily I had a student midwife and she ended up helping to move my leg and hold it for me

Thanks Olaf! I'll start on the bananas tomorrow, they certainly can't hurt. I hadn't even considered the possibility of them during labour...I can only imagine how awkward!

Pull your toes towards your shin and try to eat more potassium (bananas). I used to get them often at night and then I even got them in labour when I was pushing the head out. Fricken awkward as!
