We have new insurance so we’re having to pick a new pediatrician for Camille but I’m pretty sure they’re going to recommend speech therapy. She knows a lot too but her speech is definitely not where I feel it should be. She’ll ask for something and I’ll ask “what do you say?” And she’ll just repeat “what do you say?” Back to me. I used to think she was being a smartass but now I think she genuinely doesn’t get it lol

I feel Gael is the same! He knows tons of words both in English and Spanish! He knows a couple sentences but when he wants to communicate he doesn't know what words to use sometimes and he gets frustrated and starts to cry. Sometimes he makes up words for what he wants. I'm hoping this year we can get him in headstart (need to buy a house first so we stay in one district first!).

My sister in law has a son 9 months older than Gael and she said he was the same with words till he started school and he just blossomed and can speak now. He still has troubles with some words though but he can communicate with no problem what he needs or whats wrong with him. I'm hoping the same happens with Gael.

Damian was in speech therapy for a year and we just removed him from it like 2 months ago, definitely helped him a lot and getting him in preschool had a major impact on increasing his speech capacity for sure!

Lejia, I know what you mean about the question thing. We ask him a question I KNOW he knows the answer to, and he refuses to answer it. He is a really smart kid, but something is not clicking right at the moment, and it kinda breaks my heart

I feel ya! It’s hard not comparing them to other kiddos who are excelling in that area. I feel guilty about it all the time

My son talks pretty well. He refers to himself as "me". That's my only issue lol

My son definitely needs speech therapy. We missed the window for early intervention & will be contacting someone from our school district once he turns three. He knows what we are talking about, can listen to commands, & says certain 2-3 word sentences. However, he can’t say anything with a “c/k” sound and has trouble with many other words. He calls hulk “hult”. He says the t sound as “yuh” so “wah-yeh” for water & “a-yeh” for alex. Among other things. I wish I had known about early intervention before the cut off of 2 years 9 months.

Skylar talks well but I must admit that sometimes I think she's speaking another language.. I believe she does it on purpose lol! I nanny and the child that I care for is the same age as our children. He wasn't talking at all and he started seeing a therapist when they were 2. He saw her for a couple of months now he talks as if he's 34 lol! I definitely recommend it if you feel there's an issue. I was concerned with Sky and his therapist let her attend a few sessions and said she wasn't worried about her. She said the rule of the thumb is 2 yr olds should be able to say 2 words at a time. I'm not sure what it changes to at 3 yrs old though.

Yes, my little on started speech therapy in September with early intervention and then we also started private speech therapy in December. We’ve seen so much growth since she started going twice a week. She’s still behind the curve, but I’m hoping she will get caught up soon!
