Supply depleted overnight

Alicia and Jimena were talking about that the other day. Apparently your milk changes or dries out at the 12 week mark....it's so interesting how our bodies completely adapt during pregnancy to fulfill the growing baby's needs...I'm sure it has something to do with keeping the nutrients your body generates for the baby

How's your son taking it though? Hope he isn't too upset :(

Minky, he is still trying to nurse like normal. I think he is just using me as a pacifier right now. It's strange how it happened overnight at exactly at the 12 week mark

Mine basically happened overnight too - I was nursing a 10 month old and my supply up and dried up. Best wishes to you and your LO.

Your milk doesnt always dry up at 12 weeks. My sons will be 2 in November and im still currently nursing him and i am due in 2 1/2 months. Your milk will change however because you are now nursing a toddler. My milk no longer has fat in it because toddlers dont need it so now my milk has a bluish clear ting to it.

If it didnt dry up (which is normal for it to do so) it would change taste and your nursing baby would refuse it. Milk is tailored to each babies taste buds. My mom found this out when she was breastfeeding my three year old brother (disgusting if you ask me! ) and he turned around and said it tasted nasty. Turned out she was pregnant with me...free pregnancy test i guess lol

I have two set of girls 15 months apart and inured them all for a year without my milk supply decreasing at all.

I'm 13 weeks and breast feeding my 16 month old just last night I found myself leaking on the opposite side to where he was feeding. (I double checked to make sure I still had milk just then and squirted myself in the face..).

I'm sorry, that's so tough! I'm worried about that happening to me too. I literally just found out I'm pregnant on Thursday, so I'm only like 4 weeks pregnant...but I'm still nursing my daughter (she'll be 2 next month). Neither of us are ready for our bf relationship to be over and I'm so worried I will dry up out of nowhere and it'll be hard on both of us ? I wasn't planning on weaning her for a while still, but now that I'm pregnant I feel like our nursing days are numbered

This is so frustrating. My milk dried up 3 months ago, but that hasn't diminished my son's need for nursing. It somehow has made him want to nurse more often. If I try to say no, he throws a total fit, and tries to lift my shirt up to get to it himself. It has become a painful chore now. I need him weaned before his brother arrives. Anyone else experience this and have any advice?
