Awww that’s a bummer she deleted it. It’s so important for us to ask questions and answer honestly and kindly. In order for us all to unite we have to remain open and respectful. If we close those walls then we continue to head in the wrong direction and positive changes cannot be made.

Diary...she asked why people use the term African American instead of just American. But her question seemed genuine and I was hoping she would get responses that educated, but she deleted after only a few comments.

I appreciate your willingness to not offend, lucky. I also appreciate that your question could have been taken in a negative way, but I wanted an opportunity to respond and hopefully shed some light.

This is a tough one...while we are all American, what makes America, America, is how everyone is different and come from different backgrounds. Its such a melting pot of cultures and all are so unique. It's nice to celebrate your culture and that's why people hyphenate. Or at least that's why I do. I'm American but my culture is Mexican.
